Narcissism Quiz

Are you more navel-gazing than your parents—or even folks just a decade or two older than you? Based on the results of the narcissistic personality inventory, a standardized test that has been given to students at the University of South Alabama over the last fifteen years, the answer is yes. In Generation WTF you can take this test on your own to see how you think about yourself in relation to others.

Odds are, you're pretty self-absorbed. Wait, wait, before you get angry—it's not always a bad thing. After you take the Generation WTF narcissism test found on pages 207–10 of the book use this guide to learn more about your score. On average, Generation WTF scores in the 15–17 range on the narcissism personality inventory. The higher the score, the more narcissistic you are. Narcissists are people who think very highly of themselves, are self-absorbed, and have unrealistic views about their own qualities and little regard for others. Sounds like a lot of people you know, right?

But what's even more interesting is where you fall on specific questions. A high score isn't a "bad" thing, but if you're racking up the points on authority, self-sufficiency, and superiority that's not as concerning as if your score is high because of vanity, exhibitionism, entitlement, and exploitativeness.
